Six Sigma, Lean, and Lean Six Sigma

Two, separate-but-similar processes, Lean and Six Sigma help organizations create meaningful change and improve quality.

Lean  focuses on the efficiency of an organization by eliminating waste and uses principles to drive the method.

Six-Sigma  focuses on reducing variation and defects to products and services through standardization and has green and black belt training for employees who will be responsible for the process.

When combined, Lean Six Sigma uses the Lean method and the Six Sigma approach to maximize efficiency. Lean Six Sigma is an orderly process that focuses on developing and delivering consistent near-perfect products and services through continuous improvement. The goal is to eliminate variation and increase control. Lean Six Sigma assists with processing work on maximizing process efficiency.

The Online Resources section has print and online resources to assist with learning and implementing these processes.
